Mervyn is a qualified accountant, Chartered Manager and membership professional with over twenty five years of membership management experience. His passion for all things related to membership goes back nearly fifty years. He has operated on both sides of membership management having served on a number of National and Regional committees and Boards. He has also been employed as a Chief Executive for a number of trade associations and professional bodies.
Mervyn has worked with two one hundred year old organisations and has also set up a Trade Association and a Professional body from scratch. His experience has been gained in a number of sectors, some challenging and highly competitive. He has dealt proactively with all aspects of membership service provision including recruitment and retention strategy, sponsorship/revenue generation, communication, database management, member benefits, event management, publishing, social media and website development.
During his long business career Mervyn has also acquired a wide range of other skills including environmental and CSR issues, budgeting and business planning, gaining accreditations and standards, HR, supply chain management, training and course delivery. He has helped create a global certification programme that is now highly successful attracting approximately 500 students a year.
