CBPsychol® – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is CBPsychol® a programme for learning Business Psychology from scratch?

No. CBPsychol® is a professional certification, not an entry-level learning programme. It is designed for practising professionals. While candidates complete a structured nine (9) module coursework, certification is awarded based on assessment of applied professional practice, not coursework completion alone.

Who is CBPsychol® designed for?

CBPsychol® is designed for practising professionals who already apply psychological, behavioural, or people-focused principles in business or organisational settings. This includes managers, HR professionals, consultants, leaders, and advisors whose roles involve influencing behaviour, performance, culture, or decision-making.

Do I need a background in psychology to apply?

A formal degree in psychology is not mandatory. What matters is relevant applied experience. Many professionals apply psychology indirectly through leadership, people management, organisational development, or advisory roles. This experience is evaluated through the assessment process.

What is the role of the nine (9) modules?

The nine modules form a structured coursework phase that candidates must complete before formal assessment. The modules:

  • Provide a shared professional framework

  • Support reflective and applied learning

  • Help candidates prepare for portfolio and case study submission

Completion of the modules is mandatory, but modules alone do not lead to certification.

When does formal assessment take place?

Formal assessment begins after successful completion of the nine modules. At this stage, candidates are invited to submit:

  • A professional portfolio, and

  • Evidence of applied practice, including case studies drawn from their own work experience.

How is competence assessed?

Competence is assessed through:

  1. Review of coursework completion (modules)

  2. Independent assessment of the portfolio and applied case studies

  3. A structured virtual interview, where required

Assessment focuses on professional judgment, ethical awareness, and real-world application.

Who prepares the case studies?

The candidate prepares and submits their own case studies. Case studies must be based on the candidate’s direct professional experience and clearly describe their role, decisions, and learning. Simulated or third-party case studies are not accepted.

Is there a final interview?

Yes. Candidates whose submissions meet the required standard are invited to a final virtual interview with an assessment panel. Interview questions are based strictly on the submitted portfolio and case studies and are used to validate applied competence and professional judgment.

What happens if the interview is not satisfactory?

Where the interview does not meet the required standard, certification may be deferred, and the candidate may be asked to submit additional evidence or attend a reassessment interview. In cases of significant concern, certification may be declined. All outcomes are communicated formally.

Can someone with no practical experience apply?

CBPsychol® is not suitable for individuals with no applied professional experience. While the modules support learning and reflection, certification requires evidence of real-world practice.

In simple terms, how should I understand CBPsychol®?

CBPsychol® is a structured professional pathway that combines:

  • Coursework (nine modules), and

  • Independent assessment of applied practice

It recognises and validates professional competence already being practised, rather than teaching business psychology from the beginning.
