CBPsychol®

CBPsychol® Assessment Process

The Certified Business Psychologist (CBPsychol®) designation is awarded through a structured, assessment-based process designed to ensure professional competence, ethical practice, and real-world application.

Learning Phase

Candidates begin by completing the eight (8) CBPsychol® modules, which provide the foundational knowledge and applied frameworks required for professional practice. These modules are completed through guided self-study and independent learning. Completion of the modules prepares candidates for formal assessment but does not in itself constitute certification.

Portfolio and Applied Practice Submission

Upon completing the modules, candidates are invited to submit:

  • A professional portfolio, and

  • Evidence of applied practice, including case studies.

These submissions demonstrate how the candidate applies psychological principles in real business and organisational contexts. This stage marks the start of the formal assessment process.

Independent Assessment

All portfolios and case studies are reviewed independently by appointed external assessors against the Institute’s published competency standards. This is a desk-based assessment focused on professional judgment, ethical awareness, and applied practice.

Final Interview

Candidates whose submissions meet the required standard are invited to a structured virtual interview with external assessors. The interview provides an opportunity to clarify professional reasoning, ethical decision-making, and practical experience. It is evaluative in nature and does not involve coaching or teaching.

Certification and Induction

Following successful assessment, the outcome is ratified by the Institute. Candidates who meet all requirements are awarded the CBPsychol® designation and formally admitted through the Institute’s induction process.

Our Approach

CBPsychol® is not awarded through course attendance alone. Certification is granted solely on the basis of independent assessment of professional evidence, ensuring that the designation reflects genuine competence and professional practice.
