LEVELS OF MEMBERSHIP
The IBP membership reflects our move towards giving more equal weight to the knowledge of business psychology and social sciences (i.e. a relevant qualification) and the practice of business psychology and methods, models and frameworks used in social sciences (i.e. experience).
These categories of membership reflect our recognition of your expertise in the field of peopleโs life at work, and may have arisen from a wide variety of backgrounds:
Fellow Membership (FIBP)
Reserved for distinguished professionals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the field of business psychology or related disciplines.
Eligibility Criteria:
Minimum of 15 years post-graduation experience, including at least 10 years in a senior/leadership role
Proven contribution to the field through research, publications, leadership, consultancy, or teaching
Must already hold Full Member (MIBP) status or equivalent from a recognized body
Endorsement by two existing Fellows or equivalent professional referees
Ideal for:
Executive-level consultants, academics, organizational psychologists, or senior HR professionals with a record of impact.

Full Membership (MIBP)
Awarded to experienced professionals actively applying business psychology in professional settings.
Eligibility Criteria:
Minimum of 5โ10 years of work experience in HR, coaching, consulting, OD, psychology, or related areas
A recognized degree in psychology, business, human resources, or allied disciplines
Demonstrable experience in applying behavioral insights in organizational contexts
Submission of professional portfolio (CV, project samples, or impact evidence)
Ideal for:
Practicing psychologists, senior HR managers, organizational development consultants, business coaches.

Associate Membership (AIBP)
Open to early-career professionals, recent graduates, and aspiring specialists in business psychology.
Eligibility Criteria:
A degree or diploma (completed or in progress) in psychology, business, HR, or related fields

Interest in developing expertise in business psychology and human behavior in the workplace
Ideal for:
Young professionals, career changers, postgraduate students, or HR officers looking to build foundational credibility.

Graduate Member (GIBP)
For recent graduates who have completed an academic program in a relevant field and are looking to begin their professional development with IBP.
Eligibility Criteria:

Limited or no professional experience yet in business psychology
Commitment to pursuing a career or further studies in the field
Ideal for:
New graduates, NYSC members, or job seekers seeking early engagement with the Institute and access to resources, mentorship, and future certification
